Nick Revel is a composer, violist, and chamber musician. He is a dynamic innovator who has a very Suzuki approach to music theory and composition based in improvisation. His Bachelor’s of Music is from Eastman School of Music. His awards include a Rochester International Jazz Festival performance, the Robert L. Oppelt Viola Prize, semi-finalist in the Independent Music World Series and Quarter Finalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. His string quartet, Publiquartet, coaches string groups throughout CT and NYC on the basics of improvisation. Publiquartet has most notably performed at the Robert Mann Institute, the Ridotto Concert Series in Huntington, NY and the Juilliard Quartet Seminar. His performed compositions include Energy, a duet for violin and viola, Flash Flood, a quartet for violin, viola, clarinet and bassoon, and Green Salsa, a jam piece for violin, viola and hand drums. He has arranged Purple Haze and Autumn Leaves for string quartet as well as other pieces for NeoCollage. He is the Director of the Chamber Music Program for the Norwalk Youth Symphony and teaches viola privately. As an orchestra musician, he is the Assistant Principal violist of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and section violist of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. At TESS, Mr. Nick teaches musicianship, composition, and improvisation through our ScatCats ensembles and coaches chamber ensembles.
